Yadira Montejo, public high school teacher in Tabasco, Mexico, founded Ama La Vida (Love Life) to prevent teen suicides. In this effort, she has now become an AMO teacher and will be using the biblical principles she’s learned and the Literature component of AMO® Program in her language classes to nurture and heal her student’s hearts.
This week, Yadira and Francelia shared with 100 or so of Yadira’s students in the school auditorium about the transformation God has wrought in each of their lives since their college days together. In teaching that God has a plan for each person, Francelia read Psalm 139. The silence in the room was the Holy Spirit at work in 100 hearts. After the gathering, 18 students responded to meet, individually, for counseling with Francelia. “The sad thing is, many of these youth expressing severe problems and brokenness are from Christian families” said Francelia afterward, pointing out the dual mindedness that plagues the Church today.
Pray for the Church. We have to overcome our dual-mindedness and become single-minded in following Jesus Christ, applying God’s principles to all of life. Pray for the AMO Programs and churches which are teaching new generations to do just that. Please, pray for the training finishing up here in Comalcalco and the practicum coming up just after Easter in Puebla. Pray for our TOT’s as we all continue working out the transformation God requires of us.
Thank you!
Chris
P.S. If your wondering how it happened that we are able to teach in a public school, the director, with Yadira’s help, knows the desperate situation that many youth face and has chosen to do something about it. There’s still limits but God’s Word is being let in.
